I defInitely recommend that course. I have done pen and ink with watercolor wash for years, so this is a departure from that. I don’t live in an “urban” area so I chose an interesting building from my earlier years. The Flat Iron building in Fall River, Mass. Sufficient to say the perspective was extremely difficult to get right without looking like “the house that Jack built”. I finally quit and at some time will find another building to paint and draw simultaneously.

If you are a beginner with watercolour I think you will find it a little bewildering, with a lot on given over to basic preparation and to "finishing details". The challenging thing about watercolour is that it is deceptively simple - it is incredibly hard to get credible results, (I have come to the conclusion it takes literally years of practice!). But there are some good lessons along the way like perspective and finding your own style, and Alex is very clear to follow.

There are a lot of interesting matters covered in this course, the horizon line, placement of objects, etc, and other bits and pieces from the very beginning. I have not yet finished it, but really excited to study what it shows. Yes, definitely would recommend it.

This is an excellent course, and Mr. Hillkurtz breaks down the nuances of architectural paintings really well.

The instructor, Mr. Alex Hillkurtz, is an excellent teacher who knows how to convey the depth of art and his philosophy behind what intends to teach. His methodology of progressing each lesson makes this course very successful. In addition to the actual artistic techniques he demonstrated, his encouragement of developing each student's own style is truly inspiring. This is my first Domestika course and I am certainly encouraged to pursue other courses.

Once you begin, you realize you are in the hands of a master, who makes it all look so easy and because he starts right from the very beginning, explaining every move as he goes, one is not intimidated by the complexity of the tasks at hand. 5 Big Stars. I really enjoyed the course.
