Architectural Sketching with Watercolor and Ink

I've been a professional artist since 1983, but still love to learn and plan to continue to take classes that teach in a style that's different from my own. I have to say that I love Alex's style of teaching. He's very good at it. He isn't flashy, or quirky or showoffy in a "hey, look at me" way. He is very clear and confident in how he approaches what he does, what we need to know, and when we need to know it. In the end, I learned a great deal and am inspired to try something new!

This course really helped me a lot, my sketches improved a lot.

Im used to painting with poster colour but water colour is very fluid and loose. It is meant to spread & mingle & have a life of its own when it is wet. So I learnt to just let it be. Have fun in the process of discovery where the water and the wetness of the paint pigments going into each other go. The trick to taking paint off by just soaking up the wetness with a dry brush acts like an eraser. I'll keep practising to find my own "voice". Grateful.

As someone who has been painting with watercolours since young, I found this course very enlightening and it has inspired me to go out and do urban sketching in my city again. Thank you!

Très bon court. C'est un bon moyen de commencer l'aquarelle , le plus dur étant le "lâcher-prise", très bien expliqué ici.

EXCELENTE DIDÁTICA, para iniciantes é perfeito...embora eu já tenha razoavel experiencia em perspectivas, como arquiteto, mas sempre é bom ver como outros profissionais pensam a perspectiva, sob um olhar mais artisitco e menos técnico.

Alex is a great teacher! He did a great job talking about his interesting background in the film industry, he reminded me of what great watercolorists John Singer Sargent and Whistler were, he did a great refresh on drawing in perspective, and finally taught each of the steps required for the challenging final project. He has a great touch with pen and ink, and illuminates urban landscapes using shadow and light. I am motivated to start my next painting. Well done.
