PlusThis is a course I recommend to anyone interested in watercolor. Alex Hillkurtz made it an accessible course that covers the basic principles of Architectural Sketching with Watercolor very well. He’s a teacher with great teaching skills and comes across as someone genuinely connected to those who are learning. Excellent!

PlusEver since I did this course I use the new learned techniques and keep a journal. Whenever I have to wait I consider that drawing time and I start a new painting. I have several booklets full of memories now and it has become a habit. I always carry my carbon ink and watercolors in my bag.

I am an artist-watercolorist, I paint wet alla prima. Alex told me very interestingly about his artistic path. Practical lessons - very clear, interesting and easy. Only useful information. I have always been completely delighted with his works. Now I will definitely try to move in this direction! I just got a new handmade sketchbook-a gift from my friend. Apparently it was too pretty for me, so I needed to draw inspiration from my favorite sketcher. Let's see what comes of it) Thank you, Alex!

I've been a professional artist since 1983, but still love to learn and plan to continue to take classes that teach in a style that's different from my own. I have to say that I love Alex's style of teaching. He's very good at it. He isn't flashy, or quirky or showoffy in a "hey, look at me" way. He is very clear and confident in how he approaches what he does, what we need to know, and when we need to know it. In the end, I learned a great deal and am inspired to try something new!

PlusIm used to painting with poster colour but water colour is very fluid and loose. It is meant to spread & mingle & have a life of its own when it is wet. So I learnt to just let it be. Have fun in the process of discovery where the water and the wetness of the paint pigments going into each other go. The trick to taking paint off by just soaking up the wetness with a dry brush acts like an eraser. I'll keep practising to find my own "voice". Grateful.

As someone who has been painting with watercolours since young, I found this course very enlightening and it has inspired me to go out and do urban sketching in my city again. Thank you!

Recomendo.
