About the video: Calligraphy, Lettering, and Type Design
Overview
“In this lesson I’ll be explaining the difference between calligraphy, hand lettering, and type design. Let’s clear this up so it’s very simple: - Caligraphy is written with a unique tool and this tool defines the shape of the letter. - Hand-lettering is the drawing of letterforms often inspired by calligraphic forms. - Type design is a refined digital letterform. The logotypes we will be creating are an intersection of all three of these. You’ll learn the theory and history behind brush lettering, and why it is still relevant today. ”
