Animations enable you to tell stories through images in a playful, colorful way. But sometimes, taking the step up from static drawings to dynamic animations can seem daunting.

Yukai Du (@yukai_du) is an award-winning illustrator and animation director based in the UK. Born in China, she found her passion for creating beautiful 2D animations whilst studying the topic at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Her chief inspiration was the Impressionist movement, where she was captivated by the dashes, lines, and dots of Impressionist works.

Dedicated to perfecting her skill, she graduated from Central Saint Martins in London in 2014, and has since gone on to establish herself as a professional illustrator and animator. Her digital artworks translate complex ideas into simple images that are relatable and easy to understand. It’s perhaps no surprise then, that these playful, 2D visual worlds have attracted clients such as Adobe, Spotify, and WeTransfer.
