Photomontage is a hybrid and versatile technique in which artists create and combine images in a unique, sometimes surreal, format.

An artform with a long history, photomontage first gained traction with the Dadaists in 1915 as a means to protest against the horrors of the First World War. Years later, the Surrealists would use this technique to bring together contrasting shapeless images as a way to have a dialogue with our unconscious selves.

Today, digital artist Natacha Einat (@skipandwork) uses photomontage to merge reality with fantasy, creating works filled with visual metaphors that comment on the concepts of growth, transformation, and positivity. In this post, she shares an exclusive set of Photoshop brushes for creating otherworldly effects.

Natacha studied visual arts in Paris and uses Photoshop to create her artwork. She works as a freelancer for various brands, advertising agencies, designers, and photographers.
