Artist and Embroiderer Mariah Escossia Stars in this Domestika Diary

Mariah shows us around her workspace, showcases some of her work and chats about her creative routine
Mariah Escossia (@bordadospraiaia) is the Brazilian artist and embroiderer behind the Bordados Pra Iaiá store, where she sells her creations.
She loves saying raw cotton is her canvas, and that her tools are her threads, needles, paints and brushes. She’s happiest experimenting and combining creative techniques like embroidery, watercolor and beading.
In this Domestika Diary, Mariah shows us around her workspace, reveals the secrets behind some of her work and chats about her creative routine.
The feminine
Mariah started out as a photographer and has always loved making portraits.
Then she studied marketing at university, and worked in fashion marketing before segueing into a tattoo parlor.

Her voyages between these worlds, especially her embroidery, are an exploration of her favorite theme: representation of the female figure.
Women inspire her. Her favorite artists are women.
