The Do’s & Don’ts of Floral Design
1. Select your flowers for their durability and strength
Use fresh or dried flowers depending on your occasion. If your crown or arrangement needs to last longer than a few hours, or into the next day, choose dried flowers. They will last longer and avoid considerations like the weather or temperature.

2. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures
Direct sunlight is your worst enemy when it comes to fresh or dried flower arrangements. Fresh flowers wilt faster in the sun. And dried flowers can fade after long exposure.

3. Keep fresh flowers well watered
Remember to keep them in water for as long as possible before you start work. Then spray while you’re working.

4. Don’t use contrasting fastenings
Although it may seem unimportant, the fastening you use to attach your arrangements should match your flowers. This avoids any clashes.

5. Do not prepare fresh flower arrangements too far in advance
Plan your time so that you can finish this arrangement as near to the delivery as possible. This helps prevent any sun, heat or dehydration damage.

6. Don’t use too many flowers
As in many aspects of creative work, less can be more. You don’t have to use tonnes of flowers to make a tiara. They can generate a lot of visual noise, and a minimalist touch is more elegant.
