The 10 Most Anticipated Video Games of 2021

These are the games that everybody will talk about this year

The launch of a new generation of Playstation (PS5) and Xbox (Xbox Series X / S) gaming consoles and the release of Assassin's Creed: Ragnarok and Cyberpunk 2077, closed a somewhat eventful year for the video game industry. Although many production and release dates have been postponed due to the extreme circumstances caused by the virus and lockdowns, 2021 is set to be a more regular year, full of highly anticipated titles that gamers will love.

Now that a new generation of consoles is finally here, the possibilities are endless, and a year full of epic and daring games awaits us. In this list, we give a quick view of some of the most anticipated titles of 2021, many of which already have a confirmed release date.

God of War: Ragnarök (PS4, PS5)

After the roaring success of God of War (2018), 2021 will bring the next installment of the Spartan demigod Kratos' adventures. He will face characters from Greek and Norse mythology, from fantastic creatures to titans and gods. Ragnarök, the end-of-the-world battle of Norse mythology, will be a new battleground for him and his son.

Far Cry 6 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PC)

In the new installment of the Far Cry saga, the protagonist will have to overthrow a fictional country's dictator in South America. Giancarlo Esposito, an actor known for roles such as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad or Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, will play the villain in this long-awaited video game developed by Ubisoft.

Deathloop (PS5, PC)

Deathloop was originally going to be released in 2020 but Arkane—a studio known for hits like Prey and the Dishonored saga—postponed the launch to May 2021. We will play as two killers trapped in an eternal time loop in this original and groundbreaking title. It's Groundhog Day for trigger-happy players!

Hitman 3 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PC, Stadia, Nintendo Switch)

In January 2021, we will finally see the eighth installment of the Hitman game saga—and the final game in the World of Assassination trilogy. In this title full of stealthy tactics and pent up tension, we'll play again as the murderous Agent 47, eliminating criminals around the world with precision and skill.

Resident Evil 8: Village (PS5, Xbox Series X / S, PC)

Following the success of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 8: Village will bet again on the first-person horror formula, continuing the story of the same protagonist. Capcom promises a new twist for the acclaimed saga that is sure to unsettle more than one player.

Horizon Forbidden West (PS5, PS4)

If you still haven't bought the new PS5, don't worry, because this sequel to the famous video game, Horizon: Zero Dawn, will also be available for the previous generation of consoles. We will travel again to an open world populated by robotic dinosaurs and bursting with mysterious technology, playing as the resourceful Alloy.

Halo Infinite (Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PC)

It was going to be the star of the new Xbox console's launch catalog, but Halo Infinite’s release was pushed back to 2021 at the last minute. In this sequel to Halo 5: Guardians, Master Chief, the iconic protagonist of the saga, will take on a group of violent alien mercenaries with a new and improved arsenal full of futuristic weapons.

Hogwarts Legacy (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PC)

If you've been missing the Wizarding World of the Harry Potter universe, Hogwarts Legacy is exactly what you need. An ambitious adventure role-playing game set in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you will play as one student who will end up being the key to unraveling a secret that threatens to destroy the magical world.

Final Fantasy XVI (PS5)

It was almost inevitable. Square Enix will debut in the new Playstation generation with a new installment of its most famous saga, the mythical Final Fantasy. The sixteenth installment of this role-playing game will transport us to the land of Valisthea, a fantastic medieval world full of magic and adventure, plagued by a terrible disease.

Age of Empires 4 (PC)

Fans of the strategy war game series were already in luck with the announcement of a remastered version of the original Age of Empires trilogy. But that was nothing compared to the excitement of knowing that this saga will go on with a new title. Although its release date has not been confirmed, 2021 is definitely a possibility. This latest episode promises to get us as hooked as the previous three.
