3D Art Inspiration You'll Love

Learn about some inspiring 3D artists with multidisciplinary designer Ali Sahba

London-based multidisciplinary designer and photographer Ali Sahba (@alisahba) creates 3D animations, illustrations, and other projects for a wide range of digital and print media and has worked for clients such as Apple, Microsoft, Adidas, and Oreo, among others. In his Domestika course, Ali Sahba encourages you to explore the possibilities that exist when you blend different digital tools and software in a single project and teaches you to create photorealistic 3D illustrations.

Experimentation is essential for telling stories differently. Ali combines different tools and software in his 3D projects to create realistic visual art that pushes contemporary storytelling limits. Various artists working in photography, graphic design, illustration, and film making from around the world have influenced and inspired him.

Let’s get to know these artists and their work.

Alexander Trattler

Art director and visual artist based in Hamburg, Germany, Alexander Trattler is fascinated by technical stuff and is a university lecturer where Ali Sahba trained. ’Not only he taught us the fundamentals of 3-D but also showed us what was possible to create with this medium once you get comfortable with it. He was a truly inspiring and passionate teacher, also fascinated by new technologies, and I was lucky enough to become friends with him.’

Vincent Schwenk

Another big inspiration to Ali was Hamburg-based freelance multidisciplinary designer Vincent Schwenk, who focuses on 3D Animation. ‘When I first started, I was introduced to his work, and I was blown away. The way he worked with composition, lighting, and colors was amazing. He had a unique way to combine graphic design with 3-D, which I found beneficial for understanding 3-D on a whole new level.’

Brooke DiDonato

Conceptual art photographer Brooke DiDonato studied photojournalism in Ohio and is now based in New York. Much of her personal body of work is set in her original rural hometown. Her photography illustrates the subconscious and is tinged by surrealism. ‘What I found most interesting was her ability to capture a photo to tell a story in a simple yet very impactful way.’
