Work more efficiently from home and make the most of your time with these tools
The evolution of technology and the democratization of the internet have made working from home a daily reality for many. Managing projects remotely means that teams can be completely decentralized–a designer in Peru can successfully work on a project for a client in Europe without ever meeting face to face.
Foncho Ramírez-Corzo (@cholutions)–a digital marketing expert and consultant–embraces and applauds the home office trend. In this blog, he shares a list of project management tools that will transform your working-from-home routine and help you juggle different tasks and stay organized.
This is probably the tool that is most used by remote workers, given the essential and easy-to-use features it offers. As well as email management, Google Suite allows you to create and share all sorts of documents and carefully organize your calendar (with reminders and other time-management tools). It also includes virtual meeting rooms for video conferences and basic tools such as chat, contacts, and the option to create websites, all on the cloud.
This tool is often used to manage projects and create task lists which you can assign to different team members.
The Trello interface is divided into boards, with each one containing different lists. Each list or column features different cards on which you can compile all of the information for a project as well as assign tasks, add labels for grouping cards, and set deadlines.
Slack is an instant messaging management that is very useful for communicating with your team, no matter where the members are based. The key feature is that you can create different channels for each project, enabling you to have conversations and order information by theme. It is very easy to reread information from past conversations.
Foncho recommends, especially for those who work in decentralized teams, creating separate channels for sales, administration, HR, achievements and objectives, relevant news, and leisure time topics.
This application offers the option to manage our documents, calendars, and responsibilities. It can also be used to show the development of a project to clients and other users. It’s a very well-rounded tool that is being constantly developed and is sure to become an essential WFH tool.
Every Notion workspace offers the following options: add a text, a page, a to-do list, a title, numbered lists, quotes, and links to other pages, etc.
In the course, Home Office Best Practices: Working from Home Effectively, Foncho Ramírez-Corzo will go through the basic tools to improve productivity and help you to develop professionally while working from home.
