Domestika Talks: Marta Cerdà

Discover what inspires Marta Cerdà, an eclectic creative who struggles to identify herself
The graphic designer fascinated the public with her career and reflections on Copa Domestika Colombia, which took place in Bogotá on September 28th. Cerdà is able to flip many of the most common conceptions of the worlds of design, typography, and illustration on their head. She proposes new interpretations that you can discover in the video below:
After defining herself as a digital nomad, Marta Cerdà (@martacerda), who has lived in Barcelona, New York, Los Angeles, and Amsterdam, described some of the milestones of her career, without forgetting that it has never been a straight line, but a path filled with mistakes. To illustrate this, the designer spoke about her work with the Omelet agency, for which she came up with a number of solutions that did not convince her, until she came up with something that really worked.
A chaotic creative process, as she describes it, has also led her to achieve unforgettable graphic creations such as her poster for the Castellers de Vilafranca, to which she also dedicated a good part of her conference. Inspired by the movements of the castellers, men and women capable of forming human castles, Cerdà managed to synthesize their gestures to build a unique and powerful image.

Although born in Barcelona (Spain), Marta is based in Amsterdam (Netherlands). As a creative, she works on projects ranging from art direction to design, illustration or typography, and plays in the fields of art, culture, and advertising. His work is halfway between illustration and typography.
Her style is deeply eclectic and her work has been recognized by prestigious design awards such as The Type Directors Club, American Illustration, The Art Directors Club Young Guns or the Gràffica award, among others.
