Celebrate Freddie Mercury With These 5 Projects Made by the Domestika Community

Virgo. From Zanzibar. And, proven by science, the best vocalist in history.

Farrokh Bulsara, our Freddie Mercury of the group Queen, had exceptional voice control: his vocal average was 117.3 Hz, an almost unmatched number. He mastered modulation like no one else and was able to execute subharmonic sounds due to the vibration of his vocal cords and ventricles.

With guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor and bassist John Deacon, the group Queen marked an era and left an indelible mark on the history of music. Their songs were heard in concert halls all over the world and their concerts were an absolute spectacle. Freddie Mercury's boundless creativity, magnetic charisma and irrepressible energy made him shine on every stage he stepped on. He was true to himself, regardless of what others thought of him. His light will never fade and will continue to shine thanks to the wonderful musical legacy he has left us.

This September 5th Freddie Mercury would have been 77 years old. And we are going to pay tribute to him with a compilation of the 5 best Domestika community projects inspired by this musical genius.

Freddie Mercury (La Luna de Metrópoli), by Carlos Rodríguez Casado

This work was created for the cover of the magazine Luna de Metrópoli of El Mundo by Carlos Rodríguez Casado, Domestika teacher. It is an illustration made for the premiere of the movie Bohemian Rapsody. A watercolor painting that focuses on Freddie Mercury as a singer, with the microphone in the center of the composition with greater clarity. To create the cover, he based it on the photograph of Queen's mythical concert at Live Aid at Wembley, where they shone more than ever. Carlos Rodríguez explains how to create this type of portrait in watercolor in his course Watercolor Portrait Sketchbook.

In this tribute could not miss an adorable amigurumi of the great artist. Domestika's teacher Lhylaraña has created it for her course Amigurumis: crocheted people
with all the details that characterized Freddie Mercury. His iconic mustache, the most famous in the music industry, and his look with which he conquered the whole world at the Wembley concert identify the best vocalist in the world in a creation with the technique that inspires more tenderness.

The creation of a character requires knowing how to characterize it physically, but also to give it personality. And even more so if it is a person as charismatic as Freddie Mercury was. In this 3D animation, the graphic designer and 3D artist Angel Rapu has managed to represent the singer with his strength and charisma in a very characteristic attitude.

Animation Director, illustrator and Game Artist Juan Manuel Reggi has recreated, in his own distinctive animated record, each of the members of the musical group Queen. In this tribute, he has characterized most of the components with very long legs, possibly to represent their grandeur. He has also given a space to the talent of each of them in an individual clip where they show their role within the group.

Freddy Mercury, by Keoni VGN

In this work, multidisciplinary artist Keoni VGN, has created a black and white piece in which the attributes that represented the artist stand out. The portrait of Freddie Mercury shows us his most provocative attitude, where self-confidence is reflected. This illustration also suggests with the title of one of his most famous songs I want it all, as if it were a motto, his desire to live life as he was.
