International Cat Day is celebrated on three dates throughout the year, each with its own story and meaning.

August 8 was established by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) in 2002. This date was chosen to honor these beloved pets and promote awareness of their well-being and protection.

February 20, however, holds a particular connotation. This date pays tribute to Socks, the famous pet of former U.S. President Bill Clinton. Socks was a resident of the White House, participated in public events, and even had his website. His death on February 20, 2009, due to advanced cancer, led various animal protection organizations to establish this date to pay tribute to him and the rest of his species.

National Cat Day is also celebrated in the United States on October 29. This date was created by the "Pet Lifestyle and You" organization in 2005 to encourage cat adoption.

In this incredible project, Claire Garland, known for her creative knitting techniques that bring authentic-looking stuffed animals to life, takes us into a world where cats come alive through thread and needles. With over 120K followers on Instagram and several published books, including "Magical Woodland Knits," Claire has perfected the art of knitting realistic and charming creatures.

She masterfully manipulates thread to create textures and shapes that capture the unique essence of these fantastic felines. From the curve of their backs to the sparkle in their eyes, each one is a knitted work of art that demonstrates the power of knitting techniques to represent these animals' diversity, elegance, and beauty.

Paradise (Cat world) by Andy Velásquez (@andy_velasquez)

Immerse yourself in the mesmerizing work of Peruvian designer and illustrator Andy Velásquez, with his 'Sapiens Cattus' project leading us to explore a dreamlike world. This post-apocalyptic narrative features cats that survive a global catastrophe and gain wisdom and science. As a result, they created 'Trino,' a being assembled from robotic materials with unique intelligence.

With its capability to decipher and decode complex aspects of the universe, Trino aids the 'Sapiens Cattus' in discovering and shaping a new world dubbed 'Paradise.' In this fresh setting, only one fundamental rule exists: 'Never stop being a cat.'

Velásquez's blend of narrative and visual representation marries science fiction elements with symbolic characteristics of feline nature, resulting in an evocative and compelling piece of art that stirs the imagination.

URBAN CATS by Bernat Casasnovas Torres (@bernatinmotion)

In this work, Bernat merges his love for cats with his passion for digital design to create fascinating urban scenes featuring stylized felines.

Using software like Cinema 4D, Marvelous Designer, Substance Painter, Zbrush, and Photoshop, and rendering with Octane Render, Bernat manages to bring his vision to life, setting new trends in the field of digital design.
