Anche se so fin troppo bene che "La pratica rende perfetti", spesso lo ignoro finché non mi ritrovo circondato da una montagna di errori.
Per questa illustrazione, ho scelto di illustrare letteralmente quella frase. L'idea era di mostrarmi mentre accartocciavo ripetutamente tentativi falliti prima di arrivare finalmente a qualcosa di cui andare fiero. Ho sfruttato la creazione dell'opera per esercitarmi molto con le penne a inchiostro!
I've chosen the saying “Practice makes perfect” for my illustration. I often get frustrated at my slow progress when learning a new technique or using unfamiliar materials. Even though I know all too well that “Practice makes perfect”, I often ignore it until I’m surrounded by a pile of mistakes.
For this illustration, I chose to literally illustrate that phrase. The idea was to show myself repeatedly crumpling up failed attempts before finally arriving at something I’m proud of. I used the creation of the work to give me lots of practice using ink pens!

I started by planning the composition — I wanted the viewer’s eye to move from the pile of crumpled papers up to the proud image of myself holding up the final drawing.

I gathered reference images from FreePik: crumpled paper textures and a woman holding up a piece of paper proudly. Also, a self‑portrait for accuracy.

Poi sono passato all'inchiostrazione, iniziando con la penna 0,05 per i dettagli delicati e costruendo gradualmente contorni più marcati con le punte più spesse per creare profondità e consistenza.
Then I moved on to inking, beginning with the 0.05 pen for delicate details and gradually building up stronger outlines with the thicker nibs to create depth and texture.

Infine, ho aggiunto un po' di colore usando le matite: verde acqua per lo sfondo, in contrasto con la carta, e corallo per il rettangolo che incornicia il pezzo finito, per metterlo in risalto.
Finally, I added some colour using pencils — teal for the background to contrast with the paper, and coral for the rectangle framing the finished piece to draw focus to it.
