I am a portrait painter specializing in oil painting. For the last 30 years, I have painted landscapes and still lifes.
It is only in the last 4 years that I decided that I wanted to paint portraits in the loose painterly style of the 19 century realists like: John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla and Anders Zorn. Since that change of focus, the quality of my work and recognition for it has increase. I now have regular portrait commissions and have also dedicated my efforts to helping artists around the world learn to draw and paint portraits. I started a 100 Day Portrait Challenge on Instagram as well as giving Portrait Tips to my 90,000 Instagram followers. Until recently, I had a weekly live stream portrait demo on YouTube. I hope to inspire many artist on Domestika also learn to enjoy the pleasures of portrait painting.
