Pat-Ann Lewis-MacDougall

Raised in the Niagara Peninsula, Patricia Ann Lewis-MacDougall’s childhood days were spent in the woodsy setting of Ontario’s Bruce Trail searching for fossilized sea creatures, bird watching and pretending to be lost in a forgotten world with her school friends. In school, Patricia Ann’s teachers noticed a strong tendency for drawing (and daydreaming up stories) and later in junior high, some of those teachers encouraged her to develop those skills (but only when the class was not learning mathematics). After graduating from High School, Patricia Ann enrolled at Sheridan College to study Animation in the late ’80s and then she enrolled again in the early ’90s to take 3 years’ worth of Illustration. It was then where she met her future husband Larry MacDougall and together they created a fantasy artists’ life full of fairies, ogres, fauns and talking animals. Along with the fantasy work, Patricia Ann worked at Nelvana in the storyboard department where she boarded the shows Little Bear, Franklin the Turtle, Timothy Goes to School, Flying Rhino Junior High, and other kids television shows as well as illustrating children’s books for different publishing companies on both sides of the Atlantic. You can find her work in books such as ‘Black Bear, Loon and Walleye’ by Sara Button for Beavers Pond Press, ‘Kingdom of the Frosty Mountain’ series by Emerald Everhart for Egmont UK, the popular role-playing game for children; ‘A Fairy’s Tale’ by Firefly Games, and Jennifer’s Carson wonderful tales about a little Hapenny named Mawyn. Today, Patricia Ann is mainly focusing on her own tales as well as continuing the creative process with Jenn Carson. The World of Fox Hollow Stories by Jennifer Carson has become one of Patricia Ann’s illustration passions as well as her ShadowBird/FeatherBrain Art and her SagaWood Stories.
