I like your bird so much I came back for another look. I like all the time you took to show your steps. It looks great framed. I like and agree with all the other folks too on their comments. Paint some more birds, please.
Sweet! Is this for a class? I'd love to know what you're taking. Also, if you're on Facebook, there's a group called Beginner watercolors and supportive members. I never post (yet...) but there's lots to see and loads of feedback.
Cheers!
Thanks for your comment on the Rose Finch. I appreciate the feedback.
No, this piece was not for any of the Domestika courses that I am taking. I decided to post several pieces recently - some are related to courses (ie. the Siamese Cat and the Horse) that I have taken, however, the rest are unrelated to any of the courses.
This is really beautiful. I like the colors and your detailed brush work.
I recently painted some birds too (with gouache), but they were not as beautiful as yours :-(
Hi! How are you doing? Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments. I do really appreciate them!
I have never used Gouache. Did you post your birds? I'd like to see them. I bet they are nice as is all your work. I really enjoy looking at your artwork too.
If you like, May I invite to follow me on Domestika so that we can continue to communicate, stay in contact and encourage one another in our art.
Thank you so much again for viewing my work and all your encouraging remarks!! Judy
Thank you for sharing with us the process in your drawings! You have captured exactly how the finches will puff themselves up in the cold. Beautiful job on the head and direction & coloring of all the feathers. I like how you changed the branches to - what - is it a juniper? Love the detail! My only very small criticism would be how the one branch seems to be a little off - it is growing on both ends. Perhaps better to not have the piece that points to the lower right? Not a big deal. Beautiful painting! Thanks!
Thank you for all your amazing observations. I thought folks might enjoy seeing the process I went through on this piece. Yes, it is a type of Juniper. In my research for the painting, I found that these birds like to favor Juniper trees and decided to change the tree from the original photo reference. Blythe, I will take a closer look at your point regarding the branch as well. Thanks again!
