Jayn Mayton

Hello! This course is such a treat for me! I am ready to free up my artwork. I am intent on refreshing and improving my skills and knowledge about drawing and learning how to use color. My mother was a fashion illustrator before raising her family, and imparted drawing techniques to me at a young age. However, travel called to me and I continued with art while in Asia for ten years, focusing on calligraphy, sewing and ceramics while teaching English. Then I fell in love with architecture and interior design, which I’ve mainly incorporated in my own personal use. Art per se has taken quite the back seat while raising my own family and now helping my parents in their final years. My husband and I managed to get away last month to Key West, Florida for 9 days, as a time to rediscover who we are and hope to build a dream for our retirement years. While there, we went to a demonstration by the artist Robert Wyland, the artist and ocean conservationist who painted 100 Whaling Wall murals on the sides of buildings around the world. His example, and the ocean, tropical sun, and sunsets started a craving for color and painting. I don’t even have a grip on the color wheel, but I feel this is the direction I need to explore next. This is my second domesticaka course, and I am getting so much out of this method of learning,
