Jamin Keogh is a Youth Justice Worker, with Solas Project based on the south side of Dublin. Originally from Limerick, Jamin with a multifaceted background that spans the arts, lens-based practices, combat sports, and youth and community work. His dedication to empowering young people, and marginalised communities through his role in youth justice, and knowledge and understanding the wider pieces at play. Through lived experiences, Jamin, is committed to dismantling the barriers held in place that contribute to systemic oppression. This has been a key driving force in his personal research and professional life.
He obtained a First-Class Honours Degree in Photography & Visual Culture from the Institute of Art, Design, and Technology (IADT), a Master's in Art and Research Collaboration from IADT, and in 2021, a second Master's in Applied Social Science, also with First-Class Honors, from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUIM).
Jamin's contributions to the art world are diverse. He has worked as an artist, curator, and visiting lecturer at several third-level institutions across Ireland. During his time at IADT, his work was nominated to represent the institution on the European art circuit, including at ELIA NEU/NOW and Le Bal. His work has also been nominated for the Inspirational Arts Award and showcased at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).
Jamin's project, ‘Moyross Study’, was part of the main exhibition series at PhotoIreland, where he was also selected to represent Ireland at the prestigious Unseen Amsterdam photography festival as part of the inaugural FUTURES Platform. His long-term research project, ‘A Constant Parameter’, was chosen by an international jury for inclusion in the triennial New Irish Works and first exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Photography of Ireland in Dublin Castle. Jamin continued to gain recognition with his selection for multiple consecutive exhibitions at the Photo Museum of Ireland, PhotoIreland, and Ormston House as well as an extensive collaboration with Phroom Platform.
In his Youth Justice Work, Jamin is passionate about creating a space where young people can discover their own self-worth and agency. He strives to dismantle the multilayered societal barriers of exclusion that communities across Ireland, and to work alongside young people to develop a critical awareness and a sense of ownership over their lives and communities while fostering confidence and self-belief.
