“In this lesson, we'll look at how patterns work. What is this? Basically, blackwork is based on shading, which we will refer to as the weight of the thread. We will achieve color saturation through weight and transitions that we will apply to each pattern. Some patterns are more saturated than others. For example, this is a closed pattern. It’s a work in progress. There is a large amount of thread on the fabric per square centimeter. The amount of thread per square centimeter is a lot more than, for example, in an open pattern.
