About the final project for: Raised embroidery using the knot lace technique

Embossed embroidery with knotted lace technique

“Thank you very much for participating in this course and I hope you enjoyed it. Now is the time to work on your project, I highly recommend that you take the time to get inspired and create your own unique project. Be sure to track your progress by capturing different images of each step you take. It would be great if you could also explain the decisions you've made along the way and let us know if you have any questions. This will help me guide you better if you need advice. It's always nice to share experiences. These are steps that you have to follow to carry out the final project, to then show your process and the final result:

  • Practice stitches. Use #8 pearl thread to see the construction of the knots.
  • Make a sampler of shapes and colors with the stitches learned. Try the same stitch changing the thickness of the threads. Play with different variables.
  • From the sample book, design a character, a landscape, or an abstract composition. Look at the swatch from different angles and see if you see images appear unexpectedly. Or choose what you like most from the sample and start playing with that and see what inspires you and what emerges.
  • Embroider the final project. The meditating elephant, your own design or both. Spend some time testing colors to see which composition you like best. Remember that colors are a fundamental variable for your design to work. If you are going to embroider the elephant, encourage yourself to create your own color scheme to make it more personal and to discover possible combinations and expand your color repertoire.
  • Prepare the embroidery for framing. If you do not want to send your embroidery to be framed and prefer to do it yourself, you can purchase in advance a photo frame larger than the size of your final project. In that case, it has to have depth, like a box, because we are going to work with a lot of relief. Another option is a wooden frame, type rack and you can mount the fabric, in that case you don't have to cut it and fix it to the wood with a stapler. I can't wait to see what you come up with. You can share your work with us by clicking 'Create your project'. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you may have along the way! I will try to contact you as soon as possible. In the meantime, participate in the forum, comment on others' work, and interact with the community. I see you there!

“Well, girls, We reach the end of the course. I hope you enjoyed it. Now we are going to review the step by step to tackle the final project. The first step is to practice the stitches. You should use dog number eight because it is easier to see the knot and the construction of the stitches. To continue, You are going to make a sample. In that sample you should practice with different types of threads, different thicknesses, change needles. In that way, playing and letting go, practicing the stitches and putting a lot of love into it, you will be able to discover ways, colors, combinations, ...”
