“ The Basics of Cane Building Now, we'll talk about reducing a round cane. The tendency for people when they're reducing this is to take it and start rolling. That is not what you want to do. You want to press around the sides the same as we did with the square or rectangular cane. You want to start closer to the center because that will allow the center of your clay to warm up a bit before you move on to the edges.
