“ Influences In this lesson, I will talk about my influences. First is British artist Bridget Riley. She's still active now, but she came to prominence in the '60s. Her op art is so expressive with geometric shapes. I love her work because it feels like everything is in the right places, almost like Tetris. Artist and Graphic Designer

Artist and graphic designer June Mineyama-Smithson grew up in Tokyo, but her curiosity for the world outside of Japan led her to study graphic and media design at the London College of Communication (UAL). She worked as a graphic designer in the branding industry, but this didn’t quite fulfill her artistic goals. Finding inspiration in the seemingly mundane, she started combining geometric shapes and bold colors, pouring her creative energy into her personal projects.

June has hosted numerous talks and lectures on visual communication across the UK, in Tokyo, and Hong Kong. She’s been part of countless urban projects, collaborating with London’s Culture Mile, On the Grid, and more. She also created her own NFT collection, When a Visionary Dreams, and now works as a graphic designer and lecturer at her alma mater, UAL
