“In this lesson, we'll learn to prepare and select our branches, and to appropriately cut them to the correct size for our ikebana arrangement. For this particular style of ikebana arrangement, we want to focus on water. As a result, when we place our kenzan, we're going to place it in what we call position number three. So when I'm arranging, I'm actually arranging from behind, so that you're seeing the front of the arrangement. In the Sogetsu school of ikebana, when we become teachers, we have to learn to do everything from behind, so that the audience sees the arrangement from the front. ...”
