Illustrating Theater Posters That Get Noticed

“Congratulations on finishing this course! Thank you so much for joining me. I've given you my best tips and tricks to work on posters during the course. Now you are ready to create a finished illustrated poster design for any play you want. Let me show you an example of how I would like to see your course project process: The Play Choose the play you want to illustrate and read the synopsis. Think about the play.

Thumbnails Make multiple thumbnail sketches of different ideas and choose one to refine.
First Steps Working on 8-½ x 11 paper, illustrate your idea using a pen or pencil, brush and ink, and collage.
The Elements Scan the parts you like into Adobe Photoshop and assemble your final art.
The Poster Last, bring your Photoshop image into Adobe InDesign and add the type. You can return to your Photoshop document if you need to make any adjustments.
Once your project is ready, share it on the forum by clicking the "Create your project" button. I will look at your publications as soon as possible and answer any doubts that need clarification. In the meantime, I encourage you to see what your fellow students have been up to and comment on their posts. See you soon!”
