“ Putting the Book Together For the second piece, I'll use this piece of card as my template, and this side. I can see it's pretty straight. Two sides are straight, so I can use these to save myself some time cutting. Using a sharp pencil to make sure I get an accurate line. If you're using something else as a template, since you're drawing around it, cut slightly in from where you've drawn as you know the pencil can't be exactly in the place where the edge is. You're compensating for that by moving your ruler in half a millimetre, not much at all but just enough to compensate for the penci...”

She grew up in a creative household and went on to study a BA in graphic design at Central Saint Martins, working for clients alongside her studies and producing her own artist books. Helen later worked as a paper engineer for a card company while juggling freelance projects and, a year later, pursued her creative passion full-time.
She has worked in the editorial and advertising fields, creating and directing for clients including Fanta, TIME, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Sky, The Savoy Hotel, Ted Baker, Etsy, The Body Shop, and The Sunday Times. Alongside creating paper craft designs and publishing books including Midnight Monsters and Hoakes Island, Helen teaches MA Illustration at Falmouth University. She is also the co-founder of the London chapter of Ladies, Wine & Design, which aims to bring together women in creative industries.
