Goldwork Embroidery for Beginners: Capture the Natural World

“Congratulations! You have finished the course! Thanks again for joining me. I hope everything you have learned has helped you feel more confident in stitching modern goldwork! Before saying goodbye, I will quickly show you an example of how I want to see your project: The Materials Decide how you want to stitch the final piece and prepare all of your materials before you get started, this will help you to prepare for the final piece. Make sure your sewing thread matches the colour of your goldwork threads so that they're not visible when you stitch them into place.

The Pattern Once you know what you want to stitch, draw your pattern. Take your time to be sure you are happy with the results. Then, prepare the fabric and transfer the pattern. Decide if you want to use a hoop or frame for your final piece and prepare it for stitching. Make sure to use a stand or clamp whilst you work. That way, you will have both hands free to stitch. Remember to leave a spare piece of fabric for the clamp, as it may damage the fabric underneath.
The Felt Padding Now apply the felt padding. You must print your pattern to take out the shapes for the felt.
Stitching the Project First, check that the needles can fit through your goldwork threads before threading the needle. Always remember to double up your sewing thread and knot it at the end. You can use a Quilter's knot to do this to make it easier. This helps when you need to trim down a goldwork thread as you can easily take it off the needle, rather than having to rethread the needle entirely. Stitch your project!
Now, post it! Share your project by clicking on 'Create your project'! I would love to see what you've created. Remember to share a picture of each step and briefly explain what you have done in each one. I also encourage you to join in the conversation; we can all learn from each other! I will be giving you feedback as soon as possible, but please be patient. Good luck and see you soon!”

“Final Project Hi, and welcome to the final video of this Domestika course. I hope you've enjoyed all my tips and tricks to develop your goldwork entomology embroidery. I also hope that you now feel inspired to create your own. I've been experimenting ever since I discovered the magic of combining goldwork, beads, and needle painting. In my work, I explore the world of entomology, which allows me to understand nature with its infinite details. For this reason, I showed you how to create a beetle using three different techniques, cutwork, chipping, and couching. First of all, I described all ...”
