About the final project for: Introduction to Wax Modeling for Metal Jewelry

Introduction to Wax Modeling for Metal Jewelry

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this course. Thank you so much for taking part in it. It has been a great experience sharing my creative process with you! I hope you enjoyed it and that you're now able to use the wax carving technique to create your own unique piece of jewelry. Don't get discouraged if things don't go right the first time. Not everything I do is right the first time either! Besides, mistakes can turn into beautiful designs later on. Try to be mindful while working, be open to unplanned possibilities, and enjoy the process. And remember, almost everything is fixable in wax! As a reminder, I have summarized the main steps you should follow to complete your project. Inspiration Let your intuition guide you. Collect reference images that inspire you and bring them together on a mood board. Remember, you can draw inspiration from different sources, not only jewelry. Design Development Using your mood board and imagination, start sketching out your ideas. First, draw simple shapes, each one different from the last, and then choose the design you like the most. Refine the sketch and make the technical drawing, including measurements and several views of your piece.

Carving the Wax Piece With the carving techniques you have learned, make the wax model. Start by tracing the shapes on the wax, then use carving tools or the micromotor machine to sculpt the main shape.
The Final Details For working on the details and smoothing out the surface, I recommend you use manual tools and sandpaper. And don't forget to have a caliper and milimeter gauge handy to make sure the measure and thickness of the piece are right.
Metal Casting Send your finished wax mold to a caster to make it into metal. Once you have the metal piece back, work on the finishing touches. First, fill over imperfections, then smooth out, sand, and polish the surface.
I can't wait to see the project you come up with, so don't forget to share it in the forum. You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. Domestika has a great community, where we are all looking to grow and learn. So join in, share your process, ideas, and doubts, and comment on others' work. I will be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. See you soon! ”

“ Final Project Hi, y'all. Thanks for joining me all the way to the end of this course. As you know, I've been in love with jewelry since I was a child, and wax has become one of my favorite mediums for creation. It's a flexible and forgiving material. In this course, I wanted to share with you my wax carving technique for metal casting. For the final project, I want you to create a piece of jewelry using this technique. I showed you how to create a pendant and a sculptural ring, but please let your creation guide you. For that, the first step was to get inspired. Allow your intuition to gu...”
