“Different Flash Lights In this lesson, I'll introduce you to three different kinds of flash. Apart from specialist flashes, there are three kinds of flash that are available for photographers. There's the on-camera flash, stand-alone studio flashes, and monoblocks. I'll quickly give you a brief overview of all of them. The first flash is what's commonly called a Speedlight. It's commonly used on the top of the camera, but it can be adapted to use off-camera. The pros of this flash are, first of all, its size and weight. It weighs almost nothing. He studied sociology and mass media at Goldsmiths, University of London, and originally wanted to be a writer before being introduced to photography. After discovering the joys of image making, he spent his time adding tones and doubling up negatives to create new realities in the dark room and, once he graduated, began working as a studio assistant to deepen his knowledge.
From there, Phil progressed into shooting portraits for magazines and marketing campaigns for companies like SKY TV, ITV, and the BBC. He has worked on titles including Intergalactic, Trip to Spain, and Lucky Man, and shot celebrities like Quentin Tarantino, Toby Jones, and Jamie Oliver. Phil has also won multiple AOP Awards for his work.
