About the final project for: Introduction to Ceramic 3D Printing

Introduction to Ceramic 3D Printing

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. I hope you have learnt all the necessary skills to 3D print your pieces in ceramics. I also hope that I have given you many ideas to apply in your own projects. I want you to be original and creative to start your project. Let’s recap the steps of your way to your project. First, when designing your final project in CAD, think ahead. Consider how the 3D printer will trace the outlines of your design, and anticipate. Once again, think in lines. Here's where you can get creative and think outside the box.

Next, prepare the clay, remember to add water little by little, and mix it in with a fork. De-air the clay using a spatula. Take your time and don't rush the process. Good preparation is half the work.
Then, set up your 3D printer and the air pressure supply. Next, install the clay cartridge and nozzle, and test and adjust the clay flow. I highly recommend using suitable base materials to print on. Once everything is ready, start your printing process.
Finally, after printing, let your clay models dry and finish them by using a knife and wet sponge. Bisque fire your clay models for the first time. Last but not least, glaze your designs and fire your models a second time.
I recommend documenting everything you do during your process, this way you will have exact notes to work with the next time you want to make a project. Be patient and observe every detail. This will make your work easier as you enjoy every step and watch your design come to life. Share your project in the forum! I will be giving you feedback as soon as I can, but please be patient. It could take a while. Meanwhile, I encourage you to look at what your fellows are doing and give them feedback. In the end, we always learn a lot from each other. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Keep learning and creating! See you soon. ”
