“About Me In this lesson, I'll tell you a bit about me, my background, and my life as an artist. My name is Gareth and I'm a freelance illustrator. I love to draw animals and birds using Photoshop. Like any kid, I loved drawing animals and birds, and art was always my favourite subject at school. Since I loved art, it seemed natural to want to do art for my A levels. I ended up doing Art, Art History, and Design and Communication, although my teachers were not very happy with me. They thought I should be varied in my subjects. But I loved art so much that I wanted to do those for my A levels...”

Gareth Lucas is a freelance illustrator from Essex, England. As a child, he loved to draw and eventually went on to study illustration at Brighton University. After graduating, Gareth worked on everything from label designs to anthology illustrations before going back to university to study for an MA in illustration. During that time, he taught graphic design alongside his studies and began experimenting with digital tools which allowed him to take his freelance career full-time in 2014.
Since then, Gareth has worked with clients including Abrams Books, Penguin, Birdseye, and Simon and Schuster. He also shares his illustrations with over 100K followers on Instagram.
