About the final project for: Expressive Figure Drawing: Explore Lines, Shapes and Colors

Expressive drawing of the human figure: explore shapes and colors

“We have reached the end. Thank you very much for joining me on this journey that we have made together between shapes and colors. Before we say goodbye, we are going to review the key phases of the project. It would be great if you briefly explain what you have done in each one and accompany the explanation with one or more images. Reference photo Find a photo that inspires you. It does not have to be pretty, but rather that it has attracted your attention for something, that has seemed authentic or that has moved you. Above all, you must have seen possibilities for your drawing. Sometimes photographic errors (misframes, flashes ...) can turn into plastic opportunities.

Drawing fit Before starting to draw, analyze the photo a bit and see what interested you. Think about what aspects you want to exaggerate. Then make the drawing in pencil, fitting on the sheet trying to make the composition reflect your interpretation of the referent. Exaggerate what you liked about the photo - the character of the figure, the relationship of the empty and full spaces ... - and forget about what did not interest you.
Body color Work the skin tones with colored pencils, without trying to be faithful to the photo. You can maximize the small nuances of the skin, and do not forget to play with harmony and contrast, whether they are hue, saturation or luminosity.
Funds Make the bottoms with gouache. You can use less saturated colors if you want to give importance to the figure, and, once it has dried, add a few strokes of pencil on top to integrate the background with the figure. You can also do everything in pencil if you don't have tempera.
Digitization Finally, scan the drawing at a good resolution to be able to print it well. Correct the balance and color if necessary, preferably using Photoshop's adjustment layers to avoid losing scan information, and clean up dust and smudges with the spot correction tool.
Now share your final project with all of us by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your drawing and the steps that have led you to it. I am looking forward to seeing your project and giving you feedback. Although I ask you for your patience, I will try to access the forum as much as I can and what my professional projects allow me. Finally, I want to invite you to actively participate in the forum, not only sharing your progress, but also giving advice and trying to help the rest of the community. See you on the forum! ”

“Final Project We reached the end of the course. Thank you for accompanying me. I hope you enjoyed unleashing shape and color. We will do a recap to help you make your final project successfully. First of all, you have to know that you can use everyday materials. You don't need to buy anything special for the course. Some pencils, a pad, some poster paper will be enough to start practicing. We saw different ways of approaching the drawing, from the eye, from the mind, from the feeling. Combine them to get started on your final project. We made a brief study of the structure of the human body...”
