The method I typically use when I'm transferring an embroidery design to fabric is tracing with a light source. Here I have my light pad and some water-soluble pencils. For this method, I would print out my template, place it on the light pad, place my fabric over it, then the light would shine through my fabric and I would be able to trace my design onto the fabric.
