The Art of Creative Writing: Learn Storytelling Techniques
“We've reached the end of this course. Thank you so much for joining me! I hope you learn a lot and that you feel ready to tackle the writing of your own short story. In fact, it is now time to start working on your final project if you haven’t already. I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. To help you, I will sum up here the main steps you need to follow to complete your project. Make sure to keep track of your progress and explain the choices you've made along the way. I would very much like to see that as part of your presentation. That would help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. Using a single story idea, decide how much you will immerse the reader in the scene. Then, choose a narrative voice for your story and decide on an overall structure. Finally, think about your character. You should find one or two ways of revealing information about them. This could be through feelings, metaphors, actions, etc. Finally, map all of these decisions out using either graphic or written form. If you've filled out your craft map, take pictures of each paper (or scan them) and upload them as part of your presentation. You could also just type it all out if you feel it won't be too legible. And as a bonus, you could also share the first few paragraphs of your finished story, like a little teaser for the rest of us! That's it! Congratulations on writing your story. I can't wait to see what you have created. I will respond to your posts and questions as soon as possible. In the meantime, I encourage you to take a look at what others created for this project and comment on their posts, too. It’s a joint effort! See you soon!”

Understanding more deeply how you are in control of every direction of the story means you can never go off path. It can be great to follow the winds of creativity, but ultimately you are in control. think through those choices. Articulate those choices. I've seen. Time. Voice and character. Using a craft map may be awkward at first, but soon it will be second nature. I shared the very strange vision of my story ...”
