About the final project for: Sign Creation with Hand-Painted Lettering

Sign Creation with Hand-Painted Lettering

“Congratulations! You have now reached the end of my Domestika course. Thank you for taking part! I hope you've enjoyed it and feel eager to perfect sign painting. Together, let's preserve this beautiful art form and allow analog methods to thrive! Before I say goodbye, I'd like to flag (or signpost!) the main stages of your final project, to give you clarity and confidence in the journey ahead. First, gather your tools and prepare your workspace. I recommend setting up your paint station on an angled surface, like a wall or easel, and protecting your floors with a cloth. Dedicate time to researching, planning, and sketching your design; explore all the possible layouts, colours, and effects.

Then, spend time familiarizing yourself with the quills and paint by doing some brushstroke practice. As I said during the course, the importance of this step can't be understated. Before moving on to your final piece, try to attain clean, uninterrupted brushstrokes using the techniques I taught you.
Next, move on to your final piece: transfer your image onto the sign's surface then apply the primary and secondary text. But, don't rush. Always allow for the proper dry times between colours and coats. Take your time and do your best.
Lastly, take the time to photograph your sign well. Once complete, share with friends, family, and the community. Be proud of your work! On that note, I'd love to see your project in the forum, so don't be afraid to share. Also, I'd recommend taking a moment to admire the work of your fellow students too; I'm sure you'll find buckets of inspiration! See you there. ”
