“Techniques and Exercises with Oil Pastel and Graphite Hopefully, even with that first pass of blending, you see how much more cohesive the drawing gets. It gets very soft and fills in a lot of that white of the paper. As I mentioned, the more you layer, the less it takes to put on top over it because more of that paper is getting covered with the graphite. so you're losing more of that white of the paper, which makes those areas look a bit darker. But each stage, make sure you establish your values, pre-establish the shadows, reestablish the core shadow. What you don't wanna do is over blen...”
