Partial transcription of the video
“Monochrome Underpainting and Starting to Define the Light Let's go back to the jellyfishes. At this point the jellyfishes are fine. Now I'll touch the background a little bit and after that we can apply the first colors. I press Control + L on the girl because there are areas with too much black so I want to reduce them a bit from this slider. It's better this way. We've created our black and white painting. In the next lesson, we'll colorize it in Photoshop.”

Georgi Georgiev
A course by Georgi Georgiev
Georgi Georgiev is an illustrator and visual artist from Bulgaria. Despite having worked as a professional artist for over a decade, he started out studying law. After realizing it wasn’t his passion and becoming inspired by a comic book his friend introduced him to, he discovered his real calling: drawing. From there, he began teaching himself how to draw digitally through online tutorials and posting his work on art forums. He was quickly offered a job, which allowed him to quit law school and pursue his career as an artist.
Now Georgi works in the movie and game industry, creating everything from characters to magical worlds. He is known for designing characters with paper-like hair which he shares with over 50K followers on Instagram, and he has also designed book covers.
