About the final project for: Psychology of Characters in Stories

Psychology of characters in stories

“You have reached the end of the course. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. It has been a great honor for me to be your teacher and share with you what I have learned over the years. The time has come to prepare your final project of the course: the profile of your fictional character. To share it in the forum you must gather in a single document the 10 pages that you have made little by little, throughout the course, so I suggest you have everything at hand and available everything to carry out the final adjustments and upload it to the forum. Before sharing it, review what you have written down for your character: it is very possible that now that you know him better and know what his story will be about, you want to make adjustments. Everything that you were elaborating is not set in stone, so modify what you need to make a final version. Do not forget to give it an order, I recommend that page 1 begin with the theme it represents, its core (consistencies and paradoxes) and its tone; page 2 deals with the first elements of your outer life (your age and developmental stage, the 3 Ps, your social context); page 3 for their appearance, language, and demeanor; page 4 for the first elements of your inner life (dramatic need, goal, and motivation, as well as your background, mask, and shadow); page 5 for your ideas or beliefs; page 6 for the character mashup; page 7 for the leitmotif (they can be one or two); page 8 for its dynamics with a supporting character; page 9 for the cast of characters and what they contribute to the theme and finally page 10 for the synopsis of their story. Customize the character profile: just as I have illustrated my first version by hand with images and notes, you can decide how you give it your personal touch. You can do it only with words or in a digital format like the version that you will be able to consult in my final Consuelo project. Take advantage of your creativity and resources! The most important thing is that the profile is useful for you and can communicate the concept of your character to the people with whom you decide to share it. Plus, it leaves room to add new discoveries. In the forum you will share a final version for the purposes of this course, I recommend you also keep an editable version to which you can continue making modifications. Keep in mind that the most important thing is that this profile will help you capture your character and his story in the medium that you decide (audiovisual media, literature, graphic media), so that being able to edit it will allow you to add what you require for that medium in particular. I will be looking forward to seeing and meeting your character! So don't forget to share it with the community. If you have any questions, I will be in the forum for you, I only ask you to be patient because it may take me a while to answer. While I invite you to see the project of the rest of your colleagues and if you have any comments to make, do so! I only ask that you be respectful when you do it, the beauty of Domestika is that we can always continue learning together. Once again, thank you very much for taking this course. See you soon on the forum!”

“Final Project Thanks for coming on this journey with me to create Consuelo, and congratulations on the work you've done so far. It’s been an intense journey to be sure, and one that I’m sure was full of discoveries. To finish up your work, remember your autobiographical resources and don’t be afraid to mix them with fictional elements, exaggerating or adding actions and details that aren’t your own to distance the character from your personality and create a mix that becomes someone else. Either way, you’ll see yourself reflected in them because of what you’ve lent them, and that’s okay. It...”
