About the final project for: Atmospheric Landscapes in Watercolor

Atmospheric landscapes in watercolor

“Welcome to the final lesson of this course. Now you should be well-equipped to make your own, unique watercolor pieces. Before we move on, let's do a quick recap of the main steps of the process you should have followed to create your painting: The sketch Start by creating a sketch. Remember this is a very important part of the process that should not be overlooked. Don't push too much with the pencil if you want to avoid any lines to be seen.

First wash Start by applying the lighter values of your painting. In this stage you will be setting the general mood of your piece.
Second wash Now the darker values come into play. Use them to create a depth effect on your painting. Don't be afraid to experiment with a wet brush to come up with more interesting effects that you can apply for the background. Here I used the darker values to create the trees and theit reflection on the water.
Focal point You will need an element that stands out in your painting to make it more interesting. In my case, I chose two: a tree and a bird. Ideally, you want to make them more detailed to draw the viewer's attention.
Final details This is the moment when you can change elements that you are not satisfied with. Then you can start to work on the small details of the painting that will help make it look more real and enhance the perspective.
And there you have it. Now it's your turn to share your painting in the forum by clicking on the "Create your project" button above. Please include images of the whole process and some paragraphs describing each step. One of the greatests things about Domestika is its large community, so don't miss the oportunity to engage in conversation with other classmates, provide them feedback and comment on any aspects of the course you think are worth mentioning. I'll try to answer any queries you may have, but bear with me if it takes me some time, since I may be busy with my own projects. It's been a pleasure to share my knowledge with you. Hej hej!”
