“Influences In this lesson I'll share influences that have shaped my own work. First and foremost, I want to talk about an artist in Korea in the 1500s. Her name was Shin Saimdang and Shin Insun. She is one of the few female artists known from that time. I grew up reading books with her work and I was fascinated with her technique and her subject matter. She worked mainly with ink and watercolor, and she focused on depicting flora and fauna that were around her, like plants, birds, and insects. There's a story about her that stuck with me.
