The exercise we’ll do with the marker is really cool because we can join watercolor painting with the marker, since we're only painting shadows and reserving areas for light. I have an exercise I had previously made on my sketchbook of mapping shadow and light. In watercolor paint, we don't usually paint areas where there’s light, we paint around those areas.
