About the final project for: Editorial Design 101

Editorial Design 101

“We have reached the end of the course, congratulations! Let’s take a look back at what we have learnt, so you can upload your final project to the forum. First, we explored what influences and inspires you and how to think about visual inspiration critically. We then started working on prepping for the magazine, looking at materials, doing research, and finding the purpose in your brief. Don't forget that all design serves an objective and has a reason. If you don't have a brief, it's important to have some key points to follow as a designer. We encourage you to think about your potential audience and stay true to your style during this process! After that, we started to establish the look and feel of your final project, exploring type, imagery, and layout. We provided some cool websites to create a consistent colour palette, ideas for typography, and even illustrations made by Izzy. Then we walked you through the technicalities of how to craft an editorial layout. A well-designed cover makes the difference and has the right amount of information that reflects the content of your design. Be creative and have fun with this process. You have the tools to create this mini-magazine for both digital and print formats to share with the rest of the world. We really hope you find it useful for your own projects in the future. You are welcome to use our work as an inspiration, but we would love it if you could focus on creating your own content. Thus, we can create a global compendium exploring local places. We can't wait to see what you’ve done, but if there’s a little delay in us getting back to you, please be patient. We have lots of clients to deal with, but we promise we will get back to you. And in the meantime, if you are waiting - why not talk to other students on the course. It's important to get others' feedback when being creative. Thank you for taking the course, stay in touch and have a nice day! Izzy and Alex. ”

“Congratulations, you've reached the end of the course. It's been really great having you here in a digital space, and it's been really cool that we've been able to share our editorial design tips with you. Now, let's take a look back at what you've learned on the course. So we talked about finding your purpose in the brief, and we looked at how you could either follow our brief about looking at restaurants in your area, or even look wider. It's just about finding something that you're passionate about and that you want to communicate. We then looked at creating your own look and feel discov...”
