About the final project for: Lettering with Metallic Watercolors

Lettering with Metallic Watercolors

“We have reached the end of the course, I hope you had fun and learned a lot. Before saying goodbye, I will give you some recommendations so that you take them into account when you develop your final project. First, make sure you have all your supplies on hand. I recommend having a variety of both traditional and water round brushes so that you can let go of your hand with them and see which one suits you best. I advise that to make the letters, use those that have a pointed ending and that are small. Additionally, it is good to have scraps of different types of paper to do small tests. Take the time to do all the exercises and practice until you feel comfortable with the new shapes and tools. Start with the pencil strokes and then go to the brush and watercolors. When practicing brushing, you can use 120g bond paper until you have mastered the technique. If you've already practiced enough, then it's time to start creating your final project, for me it is important to see your entire process, so here is a sample of how I would like you to present your project to me. The phrase and the mood board Look for a phrase that inspires you and that you think can inspire more people, if you already have it, take advantage and make a mood board in which you can see the textures and the color palette you want to create.

The sketch Start by making small sketches trying different ways to distribute your letters. Once you define your sketch, then now do it in a larger format and with more detail. Make all the changes you want layer by layer with the help of greaseproof paper. Make sure to make all the necessary corrections at this stage, as once you go to watercolor paper it will be difficult to make them.
Start your project Once you have the sketch ready, transfer it to your final paper (black or white watercolor). You can do it with the help of some charcoal, a tablet/bedside table, or against the light in the window. Remove any excess charcoal before proceeding to paint with watercolors, so you will have a neater finish.
The watercolors! Paint the letters with metallic watercolors using your favorite technique. You can even mix metallic and traditional watercolors if you prefer.
A single touch Finish detailing the letters, fill in the blanks with small details, and take your letters to another level. You can add your favorite illustrations. Don't be afraid to combine techniques and integrate different skills. Dare to experiment, you might be surprised with the result.
You already have your project ready! How did it look? If it is not what you expected, be patient. Remember that any new technique takes time and practice. Don't compare yourself to others. Focus on your work and your progress. Save your illustrations and date them, so you will know how much you have improved over time. One of the best ways to stay motivated is to share your work and experiences, and it's best if you do it with a group of people who have the same interest. Therefore, I invite you to participate actively in the forum. You could be surprised with everything you can learn. Don't forget to share your final project, I look forward to seeing it! Any question or doubt, do not stop writing to me in the forum that I will be attentive to answer you as soon as possible. Thank you very much for being part of this course. See you! ”
