When you play with pencils and brushes, you set your mind and self-expression free. And now Jessica Cok from Letters by Jess, a lettering and watercolor specialist who has collaborated with international brands like Samsung and Faber Castell, invites you to join her for a course that combines two of her favorite techniques.

Design an eye-catching composition with script-style letters and use metallic watercolors to give it a unique finish. Master both techniques through a series of exercises to create beautiful, stylish letters bursting with color. And if you don’t have metallic watercolors, Jess also shows you how to create a metallic finish using traditional watercolors.

Before getting into the theory, Jess tells you about her professional career, shares some of her sources of inspiration, and talks about how her life experiences led her to becoming an artist.

Now that you’ve met your teacher, learn basic lettering concepts and go over the materials you need for painting with metallic watercolors.

Next, grab your pencil and do some practice exercises to loosen up your hand. Learn how to draw script-style letters from scratch and use your newfound knowledge to write your first words; Jess teaches you both uppercase and lowercase letters, techniques for connecting them, and how to change up your style.

Then, learn how to work with a brush and experiment with several metallic watercolor techniques to add color to your letters with different effects and finishes.

Put everything you've learned into practice and write your very own phrase. To wrap things up, Jess gives you some tips on how to bring out the metallic effect in your creation and share it on social media.
