About the video: Poses and Movement
Overview
“The characters portrayed in art nouveau seem to be almost floating, graceful naturally, without even trying. We can achieve the sensation of delicacy with the softness of our strokes and try to round out the shapes of the body. We will be based on photographs of dancers in which we will see the dynamic movement stopped in time. By this we do not mean that our character has to be in motion, but rather that we take advantage of some points on the body to show this smooth wave. One element that can help us show the delicacy we want to show is the hands; they can show a lot of dynamism depending on how they are positioned. Think of it as if you are touching something so soft and delicate that it is about to break. Hands can be as expressive as facial features, let's take advantage of this detail to our advantage. In this lesson I will show you a basic hand structure to make it easy for you to position your fingers in a proportionate way. ”
In this video lesson Celeste Vargas Hoshi addresses the topic: Poses and Movement, which is part of the Domestika online course: Illustrated Portraits in Art Nouveau Style. Create a digital illustration in Photoshop based on a photograph, experimenting with a current and customized version of modernism.

In this lesson, I’ll give you some tips to give some dynamism to the photo we’re using, for the pose in our portrait, and to give it that art nouveau feel. Let’s look at body poses. I typically use Alphonse Mucha as my model. He’s the main representative of this movement, so we’ll see him throughout this course. The elements I see as the determining factor for making this image not only a classic photo, which we could have on our phones or in old photos...”
