Artistic Watercolor Techniques for Illustrating Birds

This was my very first course in watercolor painting, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It seemed a bit too rushed though, at least for me as a beginner. The lessons in color selection and color painting of 2 birds in particular went rather quickly. I also would have liked more demos specific to bird painting, e.g., tips on painting eyes and feather texture and details, etc. That said, I learned a lot and am glad I took the course!

I really enjoyed this course! I love fotographing birds, so I always wanted to be able to paint them. Even though I cannot draw, the step by step method of getting an outline of the subject on paper was easy to follow. Learning to use tonal values is the best tool I have ever recieved in order to get a realistic subject. All the needed background on how to use water colour and mix colours was so easy to understand. Thank you for getting me going in watercolours!

I am enjoying Sarah's ability to speak about color and sharing practice samples regarding the balance between wetness of paper and paint. I haven't finished but I am very happy to have started it, to compliment my studies. I am very inspired by Sarah, she's amazing.

Whew, if you are used to nice clear overhead camera shots, prepare to be frustrated and disappointed. The majority of the videos only show Sarah talking. Glimpses of the actual painting are upside down, or from the side, with her hand or head blocking and then it will cut to her face talking again. Super annoying camera work. I have no doubt she is a talented artist, but we will never get to know her process, or what we are supposed to be painting.
