About the final project for: Design and Creation of Macramé Handbags

Design and Creation of Macramé Handbags

“Well, we have reached the end of the course, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I want to remind you of the fundamental steps to take into account when developing your project and also give you some recommendations. First, remember to have all the necessary materials on hand before you begin. If you can't find exactly all of them, don't worry, you can replace them with whatever you think is convenient. For the sample book, I recommend you make the fabrics and put the information in an orderly way, as it will serve as a guide to create future pieces. When you make your mood board and design your piece, do not be afraid or limit when it comes to raising your creativity. Spend all the time you need, as this process is what will make you different from others. In addition, I recommend you play with the colors, fabrics, final finishes and customize it as you wish to give it a unique touch. Before starting to make the bag, it is necessary to have the cotton strips cut. Remember that to roughly calculate the amount of material to use, you can multiply the length of the bag you want by 4 and then by 2. Don't forget to bear in mind that jobs with tight knots and thick thread require a greater amount of material. If you choose to work with thick cotton thread (5 mm), to line the handles you will need approximately 4 meters of thread for each one. Do not forget to tighten the thread well when lining so that it covers everything. For the body of the bag, you will need 16 strips of natural color and 16 strips of black, each strip should be approximately 2.7 meters each. If you use thin cotton (3 mm), I recommend cutting 24 strips in total for the front and 24 for the back, so you will form 3 diamonds for each side so that it does not look too small. Each strip, cut it approximately 2.6 meters. And put a lining, since it is looser. If at any time you have to splice materials, tie a sturdy knot, cut off the excess and glue it hiding the knot so that it does not attract attention. Remember that you can put together several materials and several techniques in your project, there are no established rules, you just need to want to learn and enjoy your creative process. Don't be discouraged if something doesn't turn out the way you expected. Remember that trial and error is part of learning and this will help you improve. Well, the time has come to say goodbye. I am very excited to see how you make your sampler and personalize your own bag based on the advice I have given throughout the course. Once you have your finished pieces, I invite you to share the photos of the process and the final result in the forum by clicking on "Create your project" so that we can all see your evolution and be inspired. I would love to see your final piece in a still life! Do not forget to take the photo in good light, in an interesting space that goes with your piece and in the way that you like the most. On the other hand, if, in addition to the Domestika community, you want to share your creation with everyone, you can upload photos of them to Instagram with the hashtag #AmarenaDomestika. From now on, any questions you have you can write to me through the forum, I will be here to see your process and resolve any doubts that appear as soon as possible. I also invite you to interact with your colleagues. After all, we benefit immensely from the opinion of our colleagues. Thank you very much for getting here, being part of this course and most importantly: enjoy the process! See you on the forum! ”
