About the video: Perspective and vanishing points 1

Overview

“In this class, I will talk about perspective and its nomenclature. I will try to convey to you how to master various types of linear perspective (from the basic ones, with a vanishing point, to the more complex ones) and their rules, as well as understanding how our perception of space changes as we move in urban space, from the street plan to the aerial views. I will also show you examples of each type of perspective using a selection of my favorite drawings. You will understand that the perspective is just an illusion and also that it is not as complicated as it may seem. In addition, you will see the importance of knowing your rules to be able to manipulate them or even to dispense with them! In the additional resources, I will leave you with a brief history of representation and linear perspective. ”

In this video lesson yolahugo addresses the topic: Perspective and vanishing points 1, which is part of the Domestika online course: Architectural Sketching for Urban Illustrations. Discover the art of urban sketching by using perspective and composition techniques to bring your ideas to life.

Hugo Barros, also known as yolahugo on social media, is a Portuguese artist currently living in Valencia, Spain. His love for drawing stretches back to his childhood, and the streets are his main source of inspiration. He creates illustrations of complex spaces that not only portray their physical characteristics, but also convey their atmosphere.

He starts his creative process by switching between quick strokes and splotches of color, a secret technique that he's been teaching since 2005 as a professor at the Technical School of Architecture of Valencia. As a member of the urban sketchers community, he also teaches urban illustration courses in a number of countries and regularly exhibits his work in Europe and the United States. Winner of the "Coup de coeur" award and the "Sketch 4 Freedom Contest," he also illustrated the storyboard for the movie We the Animals. Since 2010, he posts his sketches daily on his blog titled "a fresh drawing everyday."
