About the final project for: Expressive Techniques for Character Animation

Expressive Techniques for Character Animation

“We have reached the end! Thank you very much for choosing and completing this course! I hope I have helped you get excited about this branch of animation and that, knowing my experiences and a bit of my work process, will help you to have a small base to begin to train as an animator. We are going to summarize all the things we learned in the process. First I introduced myself and I told you a little about my student and professional journey through the world of animation, I also told you about my influences and who are my main references in the field. Create the protagonist and his context We searched for an audio clip and sketched ideas that inspired us, thus obtaining the script for the scene. We established what would be the objectives to be met in the process of creating our project, which were to bring our character to life by giving it a context and working separately on what the character communicates verbally and physically. Next, we design our protagonist and we exercise the drawing by doing the turn, a model sheet and another of expressions and poses.

Animation and vocalization In Unit 3 we begin with the animation stage. First we film references by acting out the ideas that we came up with, we analyze the videos and edit them to get our final reference. Already in the animation program, we locate the key points of the movements and we propose how to go from one point to the other taking into account animation principles such as Keyframes, Brakedowns, Curves, Silhouette, Overlapping and Follow Through.
We did the vocalization of the character and finally we cleaned up our finished animation.
Remember that traditional animation involves long work and years of practice, but the result is wonderful. For this reason, I ask you to be patient during the development of your project. I invite you to choose a theme and style for your project that will keep you excited throughout the process. It is very important that you always keep the simplicity, both of the character and of his actions, so you will not get lost trying to solve technical aspects and you will be able to concentrate on the basic challenges that I pose. I also remind you that you work on a short piece, so you will avoid frustration, you can finish it and you will continue with a new challenge. Each new project that you carry out will give you tools and learnings that will help you improve more and more. Share your process and projects in the forum so that we can see the result of your effort. I advise you to be attentive to the work of other colleagues and share your opinions, various points of view enrich everyone's work. Likewise, I will be pending to resolve your doubts. Again I thank you for taking my course. I wish you good luck and encouragement with your animated scene! ”
