About the final project for: Illustrated T-Shirts: Create Your Collection

Illustration design on t-shirts

“Congratulations! You have reached the end of the course and I want to invite you to do your own final project. Each artistic creation has its own challenges and opportunities, but here is a summary of the steps you must follow to develop a line of t-shirts and some recommendations that I think are important. To work on your final project, I suggest you see and select images of things that you like or that have meaning for you. Then work your concepts from those images. When you work on your base sketch, make tests, corrections and variations until you arrive at a design that will serve as a basis for making the other two drawings of the line. Remember that it is a good idea to use fonts in your drawings. Repeat the process with the other two sketches of the T-shirt line and ensure that there is an aesthetic or conceptual coherence.

When starting the digital work and doing the vectoring, first organize your workspace in Illustrator , and then import your sketch images. Start outlining them and remember that they don't necessarily have to be exactly the same as the sketch; since this was only a guide to work the digital illustration. Then apply color until you reach a color palette that you like. I recommend you try different shades, brightness and contrasts, I generally use 3 or a maximum of 4 colors.
Make the composition on a t-shirt template , according to the concept you are working on and what you want to achieve. Thus, little by little, you will complete your line of t-shirts. Finally, send your work to print to show everyone. Don't forget to ensure that when your design is printed, most of the features of the original design are preserved.
Remember to share images of your work with the rest of your colleagues in the forum, in addition to your experiences in creating your project, so we will learn as a community! See ya! ”

“Final Project It’s end of the course and it's time for your final project. Take the suggestions I showed you, but find your own style. In my case, I already knew the style I wanted from the start of my career, but it was possible because I looked at and analyzed my influences. Finding your own style takes time and a lot of practice. I showed you how to work with concepts and look for related images to create a base sketch with an integrated text. I showed you how to continue the process with the other designs for the T-shirt line to then start working digitally in Illustrator. I showed you ...”

Illustrator and Designer

Cristóbal Ojeda was born in Chile and became fascinated with illustration at a young age, a hobby that gradually transformed into his career. He studied design because it was the closest profession to drawing, but that certainly didn't mean he was leaving his passion for illustration by the wayside. In fact, he combines his knowledge of both fields in his professional work.

With more than ten years of experience in design and nearly a lifetime's worth in illustration, he has collaborated with major brands like Nike, Chevrolet, and Lollapalooza Chile, as well as other smaller brands around the world.
